DURHAM- Mrs. Mary Helen Clegg Glenn, 86, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at her home.
Mrs. Glenn was born October 18, 1931 in Wake County to the late Lee Roy Clegg, Sr. and Mary Lyda Marshall Clegg. She moved to Durham as a small child. She grew up in the Lowes Grove Community and graduated from Lowes Grove High School in 1950. Mrs. Glenn attended Croft Business School and Durham Technical Community College. She worked 12 years at Durham Drapery Company and 18 years at IBM retiring in 1995. After retirement, she worked at Ivy & Vines Gift Shop and at the Family Christian Book Store. Mrs. Glenn was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and the Susan Lanier’s Sunday School Class. She was an avid reader.
Mrs. Glenn is preceded in death by her husband Ralph A. Glenn, Jr. (R.A.) who died in 1982; sister, Margaret Kelly; brothers, Ralph Clegg, Aubrey Clegg, Wade Clegg, and Lee Roy Clegg, Jr.
Mrs. Glenn is survived by her daughters, Linda Kay Glenn Currie (Robert) of Wilmington, NC, Dr. Pamela Glenn of Mt Pleasant, SC; sons, Timothy M. Glenn (Linda) and Stephen R. Glenn both of Burlington; grandchildren, Chris Currie (Nikki), Shannon Currie, Bryan Glenn, Becki Grandstaff (Tadd), Cameron Eccles, Connor Eccles, Stephen R. Glenn, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Brogan, Maisy, Lula, Keaton Grandstaff, Chloe Currie and several other loving and special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Scott Gray, Rev. Derrick Ketner, and Rev Tadd Grandstaff. Burial will follow at Lowes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Chris Currie, Bryan Glenn, Stephen Glenn, Jr., Curtis Lanier, Kenny Lanier and Jeff Hibbard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Ansel Mullins, Will Hibbard, Jerry Filson, Donnie Smith, Scotty Gray, Kameron Ketner, Josh Merritt, Gary McCorkle, Tim Harmon, David Wrenn, Lewis Spurlin and Terry Ketner.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.at the church.
