DURHAM Mrs. Mary Irene Dow Pearce, 72, of Durham, died on Friday, August 14, 2015.
Mrs. Pearce was born in Lumberton, NC, to the late Edgar Franklin Dow and Mabel Irene Jacobs Dow. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield after 32 years as an Internal Audit Manager. She was a member of the Church of God in Wake Forest where she was a Church Elder and involved in the music ministry. She wrote two songs “Shadow of the Cross” and “My Didn’t It Rain” and was a member of the gospel group, Don and the Mark 4 Group. She was preceded in death by her grandchild, Sandie Carol Markham and great-grandchild, Markham Sherron.
She is survived by her first husband, Jerry Markham; husband, Ron Pearce of Zebulon; two sons, Russell Markham (Kathy) and Ernest Markham (Judy) both of Durham; daughter, Deborah Mixon (Kent) of Durham; step-daughter, Priscilla Pearce; sister, Elaine Mangum of Oxford; grandchildren, Kent Westbrook, Nicole Markham, Tabetha Likness; step grand-children, Jeffrey Mixon, Aaron Pearce and Blake Pearce; great-grandchildren, Chyanne Markham, Abraham Markham, Cassie Childers, Cameron Westbrook, Payton Sherron, Jacob Childers and Carmen Westbrook, Destiny Sherron, Savannah Likness and Zoe Likness; step-great-grandchildren, Brooks Mixon and Allie Mixon; one niece and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Philip Lyon, Pastor Don Westbrook and Pastor Earnest Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences may be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
