Mary Mangum

DURHAM-Mary Ruth Mangum, 86, of Durham died on Friday, January 13, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Fred Briggs and Roxie Ragan Briggs, was a member of Bible Baptist Church, worked at Burlington Industries for 15 years and she also worked for Friendly Florist. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was extremely kind and thoughtful to everyone she knew putting herself last and will be sorely missed. Mrs. Mangum was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Briggs and T.J. Briggs, three sisters, Lois Allen, Olivia White and Margaret Wheeler. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, William Jasper Mangum, one son, Larry Mangum and wife Pam of Durham; one daughter, Linda Christian and husband Curtis of Bahama; one brother, Ernest Briggs and wife Vivian of Durham; two sisters, Barbara Hart and husband William of Durham; Ethel Hayes and husband Willard of Henderson, three grandchildren, Jason Mangum, Kimberly Edwards and Ashley Christian, three great-grandchildren, Brittany Edwards, McKenzie Edwards, Madie Grace Edwards. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Greg Allison and Rev. Brad Wiggs will officiate.
