Mary "Melissa" Tucker

Mary Melissa Tucker, 53, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She was born August 18, 1971, in Iredell, North Carolina.

Mrs. Tucker graduated from The Governor Morehead School in Raleigh. She was the Net Controller with HAMN Radio, and her call letters were KCF4HAF. She really enjoyed being on the radio. She was very skilled, being able to use the braille writer with one hand and at the same time type standard print with the other hand. Melissa was able to read braille print with both hands, she would have both hands on the same line coming from each direction, therefore, knowing what the second part of the line was as she was finishing the first half.

Melissa worked as a Reservationist with Holiday Inn for over 12 years and Sears for over 12 years. She took great pride in what she did, which made Melissa wonderful at her job. She was also a Digital Web Access Analyst. Mrs. Tucker was a member of Longview Baptist Church for over 30 years. 

Mrs. Tucker was a positive and happy person who made people very comfortable and even happier with her great spirit. She will be remembered as a strong-willed woman who fought hard for everything. Melissa was a loving and wonderful wife, daughter, sister and friend to so many. 

Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Colvard Stafford and a brother Llyod Garris.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey F. Tucker; father, Joseph Arville Stafford; her birth mother Barbara Garris Neese (Richard) whom she always called Mama and was very close to. One biological half-brother, Matthew Neese (Suzanne). Brother, Danny Garris (Vickie), sisters Mary High, Sylvia Fox, and Louise Millsaps (Curtis). Other loving family members, church family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Longview Baptist Church, 2308 N. New Hope Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27604. Rev. Jack Glasgow will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 11:00 A.M.

The body will be transported to Hamptonville, N.C. for a private burial.
