DURHAM Mrs. Maryland Driver “Memaw” Williams, 100, of 2234 Glover Road, Lot 8, died on Sunday, September 13, 2015.
Mrs. Williams was born in Selma, N.C., daughter of the late Floyd Driver and Blanche Whaley Driver. She worked for Golden Belt and retired from Burlington Industries. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Vann; second husband, Julius Greene and son, Floyd Vann.
She is survived by her three sons, Elwood Vann and wife, Snow of Winston-Salem, Dwight Greene of Durham and Michael Greene and wife, Janet of Durham; three daughters, Mildred Hawkes of Bryson City, N.C., Myra Vann of Angier and Judith Benfield and husband, Burley of Durham; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Phil Clark and Rev. Stuart Aycock will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Lee Benfield, Robert Brown, Chris Brown, Tim Wesley, Brittany Wadford and Andrew Wadford.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Lisa Greene, 2251 Glover Road. Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to Liberty Hospice, 3414 N. Duke Street, #201, Durham, NC 27704.
