MOCKSVILLE, NC- Mr. Matthew Earl Brown, 62, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.
Mr. Brown was born June 15, 1957 to the late Earl and Ruth Meyer Brown in Fairfax, VA. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1975. He went on to study accounting at Old Dominion University where he was also a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
Mr. Brown was survived by his former wife, Roberta Brown; son, Kyle Brown (Shikha Alqalaf) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Lauren Crouse (Wesley) of Chapel Hill, NC; sisters, Connie Markle (Robert) of Woodstock, Georgia and Jennifer Brown of Springfield, VA; grandchildren Samuel Crouse and soon-to-be Sophia Brown; nephews, Gary Markle (Shelley) and David Markle (Courtney); and his niece, Elizabeth Leach (Trae).
He was a history buff and avid Washington Redskins fan. He enjoyed volunteering, dancing, scuba diving, and spending time with his family and friends. He spent his entire 39-year career in accounting with BB&T and its predecessor Life Savings Bank of Norfolk, VA. He spent his free time traveling and cruising around the world. He was both kind and funny, and always willing to offer a helping hand or joke to anyone in need.
A celebration of life service will be held on December 7, 2019 at 11:00 am at Hudson Funeral Home in Durham, NC. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest, NC.
