Maude Lee Merritt

DURHAM Mrs. Maude Lee Merritt, 92, of Durham, died on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.
Mrs. Merritt was born in Chatham County, the daughter of the late Henry Thomas Goss and Clara Lee Ellis Goss. She retired in 1985 from the American Tobacco Company after 42 years. She was a former member of Fellowship Baptist Church and Bible Baptist Church and attended Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Merritt was a very caring, giving woman and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, who will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known her. She enjoyed cooking and could make the best biscuits. She was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey V. Merritt and eight siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy M. Rigsbee and husband, Robert; two sons, Mac Merritt and wife, Lynda and Wesley Merritt and wife, Cindy; brother, Bobby Goss and wife, Barbara; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and other loving family members and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Greg Allison will officiate.
