DURHAM Mrs. Maureen Anne Spencer Budzinski, 72, of Durham, died at her home on Monday, April 27, 2015.
Mrs. Budzinski was born in Looe, Cornwall, England on April 5, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred S. Spencer and Annice M. Whitbread Spencer. After many years of volunteer work with the Red Cross, Airman’s Attic and family services while in the Air Force, she worked in retail sales with Dillards and small shops in the Durham area. She was married for 52 years; she won her husband while on a blind-date playing bingo. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Budzinski. She loved reading, gardening and travel.
She is survived by her husband, Willard C. Budzinski; daughter, Cheryl Anne Budzinski of Durham; grandchildren, Spencer W. Childress of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Amanda, A. Childress, Pueblo, Colorado (currently in the Peace Corps in Namibia, Africa; sister, Jean England of Plymouth, England.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Monday, May 4th at 3 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery. Rev. Johnny Hewett will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. , prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PurpleStride) at www.pancan.org. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
