Maurice Stephenson

Maurice (Steve) B. Stephenson, 81 of Creedmoor passed away October 18th, 2012. He was retired from the U.S Air Force where he served in Korea and Viet Nam. Steve is survived by his wife Mary Johnson Stephenson, one son, Mauri Stephenson, one step-son, Phillip Eugene Partin, one granddaughter Angela Stephenson Starke and husband David, and their children Braeden (7) and Justice (4), one grandson Tony Stephenson and wife Erin, and their child Jesse (5). Steve was predeceased by his first wife, Willoree R. Stephenson, his father Callie Stephenson and mother Minnie Stephenson.Steve was an active member of the Lynn’s Crossroads Ruritan Club where he had served as president and secretary for numerous years and played an active role in their barbecue fund raisers. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Bethesda Volunteer Fire Department where most recently he was the president. Steve was an active member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, served as a deacon, a member of the adult choir and men’s chorus and played on the dart ball team. His other hobbies included playing golf, cooking for his friends and family, gardening, and other projects in and around his home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Ed Denton and Dr. Gerald C. Goodwin will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
