Max Hunter Boswell, Sr., 86, of Durham, North Carolina passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 29, 2024. He was born September 18, 1937 in Wilson, NC to the late William and Catheline Boswell.
In addition to his parents Max is also preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Boswell.
Mr. Boswell proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was stationed in Germany on the Rhine River for 4 months. He was also the proud owner and operator of Boswell Plumbing Company for over 50 years. Max was a longtime Mason and Shriner enjoying his brotherhood. He also enjoyed going to Kerr Lake and being around his lake friends. Max will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and sibling who honorably served his country and community.
Max is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lessie Boswell; daughter, Sheila Boswell Russell; son, Max H. Boswell, Jr. (J.J. Clements); brother, Bill Boswell, Jr. (Joanne); sister, Frosty Dietz; grandchildren, Amber Isley (Chase), Grant Russell (Kaylie) and Jackson Boswell; great grandchildren, Gray Russell and Brody Isley; special dog, Maxine and other loving family members and friends.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Durham Memorial Baptist Church, 133 Robbins Rd., Durham, NC 27703. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham, NC. Officiating will be Dr. Gerald Goodwin.
