Metha Lou Barr

DURHAM Ms. Metha Lou Barr, 77, of Durham, died on Sunday, February 28, 2016.
Ms. Barr was born in Oakland, California and lived in Livermore, California for many years before moving to Durham in 2015. She owned the Spring Fresh Cleaners of Livermore. She loved her 3 children, 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her animals, especially her dog “Teddy”. Ms. Barr was a mentor to young women getting started in life. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Brewer Leonard, step-father, Elba Leonard and daughter, Amy Middleton.
She is survived by her lifelong companion, Aubrey Robertson of Livermore, Calif.; three sons, Scott Kenneth Thompson and partner, Lu Vaughn of Durham, Carl King Thompson of Alaska and Martin Keith Thompson and wife, Stacy of Oakland, Calif.; two brothers, Bill Brewer of Florida and R. B. Brewer of Fremont, Calif. ; four grandchildren, Tiffani Thompson, Jason Shaddox and wife, Megan, Brandon Thompson and Chad Thompson; six great-grandchildren, Wesley Gruchow, Evan Gruchow, Cole Shaddox, Owen Shaddox, Chase Thompson and A.J. Thompson.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Rev. Johnny Hewett will officiate.
