DURHAM- Mr. Michael Earl Byrd, Sr., 59, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
Mr. Byrd was born on April 21, 1960 to George and Vivian Byrd in Johnston County, NC. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Michael loved grilling, pick pickins, and spending time with his family. He loved to go fishing with his son and brother-in-law. Michael was an avid Carolina fan and NASCAR fan, especially a fan of Jeff Gordon. He enjoyed watching the Waltons and the Andy Griffith Show. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and PaPa.
Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vivian Byrd, and step-daughter, April Lou Brown. He is survived by his wife, Emily Byrd; son, Michael Byrd Jr (Patricia) of Burlington, NC; step-son, Scottie Brown of Durham, NC; brother, Jimmy Carden of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Tammy Byrd Cates (Richard) of Oxford, NC, and Jennifer Byrd McClees (Mike) of Roxboro, NC; grandchildren, Brandon Byrd, George Byrd, Summer Brown, Kylie Brown, and Gage Brown; nephews, Ricky Cates, Tony Byrd, James Cates; nieces, Stephanie Byrd, Angela Toomer, Katrina Byrd, Jennifer Cates, Skyler Carden and Makala McClees; four great-nephews, and three great-nieces.
Pallbearers will be Tae Miles, Josh Williams, Brent Justice, Nate Porterfield, Eric Beasley, Zachary Wilkerson, Shawn Luck and Justin “Buck” Luck.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend David Trump. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Flowers are acceptable.
