DURHAM Mr. Michael Dwayne Pickett, 40, a former resident of Durham passed away at his home in Newport, NC on Sunday, May 27, 2018.Mr. Pickett was born in Goldsboro, NC. Michael had an especially big heart and kind soul for his sons, family and friends. Throughout his life he enjoyed golfing, fishing, his Duke Blue Devils and NASCAR.He is survived by his two sons, James Braxton Pickett and Michael Cole Pickett both of Newport and their mother, Jennifer Nichole Bobbitt; mother, Susan Ray Knight of Newport; his father, Michael Edward Pickett of Rougemont; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Jane Honeycutt; his paternal grandmother, Barbara Pickett of Rougemont; one brother, Stephen Kyle Knight and wife, Elena of Newport; two sisters, Crystal Michelle Knight of Durham and Misti Michelle Lee and husband, Scott of Creedmoor; two uncles, Lewis Braxton Ray, Jr. and wife, Jackie of Creedmoor and Larry Braxton Ray and wife, Marsha of New Hill; aunt, Diana Temple and husband, Rex of Wake Forest; his special niece, Christi of the home and several nieces, nephews and cousins.The family will receive friends on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel.
