Michael W. Wood

Michael W. Wood, 67, of Creedmoor, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024. He was born in Durham, NC on October 28, 1957, to the late Leslie and Mary Edith Wood.

Mr. Wood proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Michael worked for many years at MetLife where he was the Director of Knowledge Enablement.

Michael was a longtime member of Faith Harvest Church in Wake Forest, NC where he was the Vice President of the Board of Directors, Head Lead of the Security Team and a member of the Medical Team. Michael was a devout Christian and a faithful servant to the Lord.

Mr. Wood was a loving and caring family man who had a charismatic personality and yet could also be sarcastic. He was an avid saltwater fisherman, whether surf fishing or deep-sea fishing he was happy just to be fishing. Michael also enjoyed going to the beach at Cape Hatteras. He cherished coaching his kids in softball and baseball and was also the proud owner of Northside Ball Field and was a longtime coach in community athletics.

Michael will be remembered as a wonderful husband, daddy, brother, papa, and great-grandfather who faithfully served the Lord and his church and proudly served his country and community. He will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known him.

Mr. Wood is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Stacy Wood; son, Brandon Garner (Kelsey); daughters, Rita Elexson (Bobby), Leslie Collins, Cherie Wood and Ciara Glaser (Nate); brother, Tommy Wood (Phyllis); sister, Sandy Johnson; grandchildren, Bridgett Martin (Austin), Kinsley Elexson, Shelby Edmonds, Maurice Wood, Wyatt Warren, Desiree Wood, Levi Warren, Emily NG, Brantley Garner, Lucian Elexson, Ace Collins, Chania Best, Warren Collins, Elliana Glaser, Brayden Garner, Wrenley Garner and Blair Glaserr; great-grandson, Trentin Martin,  and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Faith Harvest Church, 4737 Willeva Dr., Wake Forest, NC 27587. Pastor Brad Wiggs will officiate. Interment will be Privately held at the Sherron Family Cemetery in Creedmoor, NC.

The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 10:00 A.M.
