Monroe Wade Scoggins

DURHAM Mr. Monroe Wade Scoggins, 87, of Durham, died on Sunday, December 6, 2015.
Mr. Scoggins was a native and lifelong resident. He retired from the City of Durham at age 80 as an Electrical Inspector and also worked for Bryant-Durham Electric Inc. He was a hardworking man who loved his family and especially his grandkids and great-grandkids; enjoyed cutting wood, putting smiles on people’s faces and telling jokes. He attended Grove Park Chapel. Mr. Scoggins was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Duke Scoggins; son, Russell Scoggins and his brother, Kenneth Scoggins.
He is survived by his son, Doug Scoggins of Durham; grandchildren, Julie McFalls (Jeremy), Nikki Full (Stephen), Ashley Oswald (Greg) and Kelli Scoggins; 6 great-grandchildren, Jansen and Jordan McFalls, Kayla Morrison, Levi Full, NaDia and Miah Oswald.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
