Morry Wayne Spitzer

On the morning of 6/20/2022 at 8:18am, Mr. Morry Spitzer regrettably passed away from complications related to diabetes.  He was 66-years old. Mr. Spitzer was affiliated with several Jewish and Unitarian/Universalist communities in Durham, NC and Miami, FL. Within those communities he befriended many righteous and generous people like himself. Mr. Spitzer earned a BBA from University of Miami plus a CPA certificate at the inception of the computer industry. Subsequently, he fulfilled many leadership roles within the field of computer software development. 

Mr. Spitzer was a dedicated family man. He  worked hard to support his family both financially and emotionally. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sarah Edwards, his wife, Dr. Susan Spitzer, his daughter, Ms. Hannah Spitzer, his recently acquired son and future son-in-law, Mr. William Bragg-Hines, his brother, Mr. Bruce Spitzer, his niece, Ms. Cathryn Spitzer, and nephews, Mr. Michael Spitzer and Mr. Anthony Spillman. 

Mr. Spitzer was born in Miami, FL in 1955. He lived there until 18 years prior to his passing in 2005.  At that time, Mr. Spitzer and his family changed residence to Durham, NC where they enjoyed their remaining years together. 

Morry Spitzer was a wonderful comedian. His middle-school type of humor was inappropriate in it’s timeliness as well as the chosen types of audiences. Regardless, all enjoyed his sense of humor whether it was for the purpose of entertainment, or for coping with difficult situations. Morry was a loving and funny man. 

Service for Mr. Spitzer will be conducted by Reb Stacy Grove, Ba’alat Chochmah at Hudson’s Funeral Home in Durham, NC on 2/27/2022 at 10am. The family politely requests those in attendance to kindly wear masks. Committal service will follow at 12 noon at Judea Reform Congregation Cemetery in Chapel Hill, NC. Visitors will then be received at the family’s home beginning at 1pm. Shiva minyan with the family will be held each evening through Thursday, at 7:30 pm, and at 4pm on Friday. Online presence is welcome.
