DURHAM Mossette Lesley Bigford, 84 of Durham went home to be with the Lord on September 29th 2014. He went peacefully in his sleep.
He was born on November 26, 1929 in Sampson County to Chester and Lenora Colvin Bigford. Mossette was a disabled veteran who served in the Marine Corps and was very proud to have served his country. He was married to the love of his life Dorothy George Bigford for 46 years before she preceded him in death in 1999. He spent his days since then helping raise his two grandchildren, spending time with his daughter and in the last years his great granddaughters. He attended Gospel Church and was former member of the Bethesda Athletic Association.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter Linda Hutchins, her husband William; two grandchildren Stephanie Sheppard and husband Alex, and William Mossette Hutchins and wife Sarah. The light of his life were his three great grandchildren Mollie, Charlotte and Abigail who he spent almost every day with. He is also survived by his brother Austin Bigford of Brunswick Georgia and sister, Katie Brigman of Bennettsville, SC. He was preceded in death by brothers, William Bigford of Bennettsville SC and John Bigford of Hamlet NC; sister Frances Northam of Bennettsville SC . He also leaves behind his best buddy and loving dog Biscuit.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 3 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Glenn Davis will officiate. Pallbearers will be William Mossette Hutchins, Alexander Sheppard, John Bigford, Vic Snipes, Kenny Davis and Tommy Tew. Entombment will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers at the cemetery will be provided by the U. S. Marine Corp.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m., before the service at Hudson Funeral Home.
