Jessie Clayton Mitchell

CREEDMOOR Mrs. Jessie Clayton Mitchell, 93, of Creedmoor, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. She lived in Durham until 1971.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Person County, the daughter of the late John Thomas Clayton and Rosa Overby Clayton. She was a homemaker and a member of Deliverance Temple in Butner. She loved working in her yard, cooking and most of all loved her Lord and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Andrew Mitchell, Jr., daughters, Wendy Rose Mitchell and Wanda Mitchell Lee and two grandchildren, Joshua Hicks and Nathan Bizzell.
She is survived by her sons, Steven A. Mitchell of Creedmoor and wife, Peggy, Phillip Alan Mitchell and wife, Peggy of Pikeville, N.C.; three daughters, Sandra Mitchell Allen of Durham, Nana Mitchell Ray and husband, George of Creedmoor and Recia Mitchell Martin of Greta, Va. and husband, David; 11 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great children.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev Steven Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Phillip Alan Mitchell, Jr., David Martin, Calvin Thomas Eakes, Jordon Lance Mitchell, William Wiley Allen, Jr. and Steve Bizzell.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 1556 US Hwy 15, Creedmoor. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
