Nita George Ketner

DURHAM Mrs. Nita George Ketner, 88, a former resident of Duke Homestead Road passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.Mrs. Ketner was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Gaston George and Addie Olivia McDade George. She retired from Goldkist Egg Market. Mrs. Ketner was a former member of Holloway Street Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and cherished her grandchildren very dearly. She enjoyed search and find puzzles, cooking, canning and her door was always open for Sunday dinner. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ketner; three brothers, Thomas, Wallace and Julian George; two sisters, Lois Olive and Edna Eakes.She is survived by her son, David Lee Ketner of Newport, NC; three daughters, Bonnie O’Donnell of Raleigh, Susan Morris and husband, Greg of Mt Olive and Janice Glasgow and husband, Rick of Durham; sister, Doris Peterson of Merkel, Texas; eight grandchildren, Christopher Mincey, Shannon Ketner, Kimberly Blake, Richie Handy, Cary Woodall, April Ketner, Jonathan Massey and Jessica Glasgow; seven great-grandchildren, Gracie Shepherd, Bailey Ketner, Carter Smith, Kelsey Handy, Jaxson Glasgow-George, Avalynn Watson and Aurora Watson; great-great grandchild, Brayden White; three step-grandchildren; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Don Fields for all his loving support and special furry companion, Alley.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Dr. Eddie Moody will officiate. Private burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Randy Roberts, Ricky Massey, Mike Ketner, Don Fields, J. T. Glasgow and Chris Watson.The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., before the services at Hudson Funeral Home.
