Noah Ernie Davis

DURHAM-Noah Ernest “Ernie” Davis, 88, of Durham died on Friday, February 10, 2012. He was the son of the late Noah Jefferson Davis and Mattie Dowling Davis. He served in the WW II, US Navy. Mr. Davis was a member of Angier Ave. Baptist Church, was a deacon in the church. He retired from Durham Fire Department as a Captain. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ivie Oneida Davis, two sons, Randy Davis and Michael Davis, three brothers, Wilbur Davis, Albert Davis & Ralph Davis, one sister, Irene Balha.He is survived by his step-son, John Strickland of Durham; one step-daughter, Gloria Oakley of Durham; three brothers, Carlton Davis of Waldo Fl.; Basil Davis of Graham Fl.; Alvin Davis of Hawthorne, Fl.; eleven grandchildren, twenty one, great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Angier Ave. Baptist Church, Rev. Jim Baggett and Rev. Kevin Byers will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
