Nonie Strickland

August 26, 1931 — February 5, 2016

DURHAM- Nonie Estes Strickland, 84, of Durham passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016. She was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Harold Estes and Gertrude Evans Estes. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Strickland was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Norris Strickland and grandson Tyler Strickland.

She is survived by her son, Rodney Strickland and wife Becky of Durham; daughter, Julie Fowler and husband Ricky of Durham; sisters, Jean Pender and husband Bobby of Wake Forest; and Doris Hetherington and husband Bob of Cumming, GA; grandchild, Cheyenne Fowler.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Reverend Forrest M. Gale will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Blair Pender, Woody Kelly, David Latta, Alan Young, Alan Mangum and Bobby Pender.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to Transitions Hospice of Wake Co., 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
