DURHAM Mrs. Olive Wells Percy Hilliard, 91, of Durham, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.
Mrs. Hilliard was born in Henderson and moved to Durham when she was 14 years old. She was the daughter of the late Victor Percy, Sr. and Daisy Short Percy.
She was preceded in death by her one and only love, husband, L. O. Hilliard who she met at 15 years old and married at age 17. Mrs. Hilliard was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women (WMU). She was a very passionate and devoted church member along with her husband. She was a talented seamstress who loved helping and caring for other people. Her main passion in life was her family, who were her heart and soul. One of her sweetest joys was having her house full of grandchildren during the summer. She retired after 22 years from IBM Corporation. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. If you were a friend of Olive; you had a friend for life!
She is survived by her four daughters, Linda H. Roberts and husband, Carl of Durham, Debra H. Eatman and husband, Rob of Durham, Pamela H. Watkins and husband, Ricky of Durham and Martie H. Nolan and husband, Patrick of Durham; two brothers, Ralph Percy of Raleigh and Jerry Percy of Virginia; two sisters, Eleanor W. Rigsbee of Virginia and Donna Percy of Durham; grandchildren, Len Roberts (Karen), David Roberts (Carla), Tiffany Allen (Will), Robby Eatman (Robin), Emily Watkins, Bethany Bullers (Donnie), Brent Epps and Brock Epps (Elizabeth); 15 great-grandchildren, Brady Epps, Morgan Epps, Kendzi Epps, Charlie Epps, Jack Bullers, Layne Bullers, William Allen, Jackson Allen, Payne Bradley, Mae Bradley, Wynn Bradley, Brandon Roberts (Beth), Bryson Roberts, Dillon Roberts (fiancée Kayla) and Emma Roberts.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev Wilber Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Brent Epps, Terry Epps, David Roberts, Len Roberts, James Williams and Brock Epps.
