DURHAM Mrs. Ollie Ferrell Black, 94, of Coley Road, Durham passed away at her home, with her family by her side on Monday, December 17, 2012, at 8:46 p.m.She was born on Coley Road in Durham County on April 1, 1918, the eighth of twelve children of the late Willie Melvin and Lacy Tilley Ferrell. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.She married Archie Junius Black on November 11, 1942 and he left 10 days later to serve in Italy during World War II. He returned home in 1945 and they moved to Wake County where they lived for 12 years, moving to Coley Road in 1958.She was preceded in death by her husband, Junius Black in 1976, grandchild, Derrick Pearce, great-grandchild, Jacob Barnette, brothers, Talmadge, Waylon, Atlas, Jimmie, W. M., Calvin and Coy; sisters, Mattie, Lillian, Mae, and Alice and son-in-law, Bobby Shepherd, Bobby Barnette and Bill Pearce.She is survived by her daughters, Lacy Roberts of Maryland, Linda Pearce and Dianne Barnette of Durham; grandchildren, David Pearce, Teresa Price, Tony Pearce all of Durham, Toby Barnette and wife, Pam and Randy Barnette and wife, Bambi of Granville County; great-grandchildren, River, Kayci, Cole, Karris, Ridge, Alec, Kaydi, Brandin, Zakry, Austin and Kyle.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Donnie Cash. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 3314 Coley Road.
