Orrin Fred Frye

DURHAM- Mr. Orrin “Bill” Fred Frye, 94, of Durham, NC passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017. Mr. Frye was born in Atlantic City, NJ on July 13, 1922 to the late Byrel and Bessie Frye.Mr. Frye proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, flying over 27 missions, and was held as a POW for over a year. He maintained his Pilots’ license until his later years. Bill was also the owner of Frye Electric from 1963 until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Frye was a proud member of the Museum of the 93rd Bomber Group in Savannah, GA, the Military Order to the Purple Heart and the Redwood Ruritan Club and regularly volunteered at the V.A.Mr. Frye is preceded in death by his loving wife Hilda Frye; sister, Louise Howe and son-in-law, Philip Crabtree.Mr. Frye is survived by his children, Michael Frye and his wife Kimberly, Neal Frye and Cindy Crabtree; grandchildren, James Frye and girlfriend Jennifer, Phil Crabtree and wife Buffie, Julie Webb and husband Mike and Ryan Frye and numerous great-grandchildren and other family members. The family would like to Thank Bill’s Special Friend and Caregiver, Yolanda Covington for her care and compassion.Pallbearers will be James Frye, Jay Frye, Phil Crabtree, Mike Webb, David Howe and Mickey Oakley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Warren Brendle, Tony Lopez, Dylan Oakley and Donald Lamond.Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens with Rev. Glenn Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC.
