DURHAM Mr. Phillip Lee Morris, 75, a former resident of Durham, died on Friday, January 15, 2016 in Newport, N.C.Mr. Morris was born in Durham to the late Robert Lee Morris and Bertha Haas Morris. He was retired manager of Tom Cat’s and a member of the Storm Troopers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid NASCAR fan.He is survived by his daughter, LeAnne Morris Wise of Dunn; his stepson, Craig Capps of Dunn; sister, Mollie Ann Johnson of Pittsboro; two grandchildren, Robyn Bailey Perry, Cyndi Hernandez; three step-grandchildren, Charlotte Capps, Jessica Capps and Kyle Capps; five great-grandchildren, Robin, Chelsey, Niko, Mia and Adrian; 8 step-grandchildren, Cody, Alex, Claire, Cylis, Micah, Mattie, Lily and Cora.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Mr. William Al Wise will officiate. Burial will be in the Morris Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, LeAnne Wise, 3130 Harnett-Dunn Hwy, Dunn, N.C. 28334. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
