DURHAM- Ms. Phyllis Brown, 57, of Durham, NC died Tuesday, August 28, 2018.Born 1961 in Johnson City, TN, she grew up in Danville, VA where she graduated from George Washington High School. She studied business administration at Wake Tech in Raleigh, NC.Ms. Brown was the owner/broker of Phyllis Brown and Associates, Inc., a Durham real-estate firm she started in 2009. She was innovative in Durham real-estate being one of the first owners to invest in on-line real-estate leads and home search software. At one point, she had 14 agents working with her firm, and others as referral agents using her online services.Ms. Brown was a member of Hope Chapel in Apex, NC, where she was recently baptized, and attended a Wednesday ladies bible study group.Ms. Brown was the loving wife of B. Keith Brown of Durham, NC, the daughter of Nancy Kapornyai of Danville, VA, the caring sister of Dan Kapornyai and his wife Wrenne of Franklinton, NC, the caring sister of Alan Kapornyai and his wife Mary of Palm Bay, FL, and the caring sister of Tim Kapornyai and his wife Jodi of Dry Fork, VA. She will be remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews: in NC – Chris Kapornyai and his wife Felicity and daughter Lilah – in VA: Skylar Hamlett, Coy Hamlett, Lilly Kapornyai, and Matthew Kapornyai – in FL: Amanda Tufel – in CO: Adam Erdesky and his wife Marya and sons Charles and James.She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother – Revs. Daniel and Ray Feltner-Kapornyai of Asheville, NC, and her sister Amy Kapornyai Drdek of Lake Worth, FL.A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Hope Chapel, 6175 Old Jenks Road, Apex, NC 27523. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Pastor Bryan Finley.
