Ralph Carson Rich

Mr. Ralph Carson Rich, 85, of 3121 S. Alston Avenue, died on Saturday, April 3, 2010. Mr. Rich was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Ashley Ralph Rich and Jenny Moize Rich. He served in the U. S. Army and retired after 35 years with the American Tobacco Company. Carson enjoyed cooking for his family. He loved to cook fish for them and the highlight of Christmas Dinner was his fruit salad, cheese wafers and the fudge for dessert. His grandchildren are going to miss their “Pa Pa” He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jewel Rich; two daughters, Jeanine Yates and husband, Rodney and JoAnn McBride and husband, Jerry, both of Durham; grandchildren, Lori Yates Seymour and husband, Adam, Brian Yates and wife, Jennifer, Kevin Yates, Noah Yates, Nicholas McBride and wife, Kimberly, Jason McBride and wife, Audrey and Philip McBride and three great-grandchildren, Megan Yates, Ethan Seymour and Brayden Yates. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Forest Gale. Interment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the American Legion Post 416. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 3121 S. Alston Ave.
