THOMPSONDURHAM Mr. Ralph Thompson, 86, of 911 S. Mineral Spring Road, died on Saturday, May 15, 2010.Mr. Thompson was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late James Gibmon Thompson and Augusta Gertrude Finch Thompson. He retired after 45 years as a Mechanic at Burlington Industries. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Leigh McDuffie Thompson and brothers, Grover, Woodrow and Norman Thompson.He is survived by his son, Jerry Thompson and wife, Reta of Cary; two daughters, Rita Walton and husband, Russell of Durham and Jeannie Lou Hintz and husband, Oscar William of Marietta, Ga.; one sister, Doris Reaves of Durham; three grandchildren, Holly Leigh Heath, Christina Walton and Kayla Dey Thompson and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Chambers, Stephanie Chambers and Robbie Heath. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Ron Zedick. Interment will be in the Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Ann Walton, 2573 Burton Road. Flowers are acceptable.
