Rebecca Cates Barker

DURHAM Mrs. Rebecca Elizabeth Cates Barker, 89, of Durham, died on Friday, January 12, 2018.

Mrs. Barker was a native of Durham, the daughter of the late Colon Columbus Cates and Gladys Terry Cates. She retired from Claude May Interiors as a bookkeeper. She attended Grove Park Chapel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Green Barker, Jr. and son, Jesse Colon Barker.

She is survived by her son Terry Steven Barker and wife, Charlotte; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Dale Brooks will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearer will be Lucas Barker, Damon Barker, Joshua Barker, Timothy Barker, Cliff Detweiler and Paul Shick.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service at the funeral home. Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to Duke HomeCare and Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Durham NC 27704, for the Hock Pavilion.
