Douglas Earl “Doug” Jones

DURHAM Rev. Douglas Earl “Doug” Jones, 63, a former resident of Durham, died on Saturday, December 5, 2015.
He was born in Durham and was a resident of Durham for many years before moving to Prospect Hill, NC. He was a former employee of IBM Corp and was a retired Southern Baptist Minister. He was the founder of “Proclaim His Name Ministry” and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Roxboro. His passion was leading people to Christ. Doug was a multiple NASCAR track champion at the Orange County Speedway and South Boston Speedway in Virginia. He was an avid NASCAR fan who loved life and his family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Marie Jones; father, Edward Earl Jones and a sister, Cindy Warren.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Teresa Inscoe Jones; his mother, Rose Brown Jones of Durham and a son, Christopher Paul Jones of Durham.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Dr. Victor Blackwell. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Inscoe, Kurt Inscoe, Mickey Oakley, Tony Oakley, Matthew Chilansky and Jeremy Wynne. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Wallace Inscoe, 2810 Glover Road in Durham. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences may be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
