Jay Allison Fogleman

DURHAM Rev. Jay Allison Fogleman, Sr., 84, of Durham, died on Thursday, April 2, 2015.

Rev. Fogleman was born in Henderson to the late Lyman Murphy Fogleman and Lillian Clark Fogleman. He graduated from Wake Forest University and Southeastern Seminary. He began his ministry at Mt. Adar Baptist Church then Lowes Grove Baptist Church and was at Berea Baptist Church from 1981 to 2007, retiring after over 50 years of ministry. He also worked at Tom Inscoe Wholesale Meat.He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lyman Fogleman, Sr., William Fogleman and a sister, Camella Fogleman. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School and spending time with his grandchildren.  

He is survived by his wife, Linda Williams Fogleman; his children, Jay Fogleman, Jr. (Kathe) of Providence, RI, Joseph Fogleman of Los Angeles, Cal.; Kathleen F. Irwin (Frank) of Raleigh, Lee Berrios-Smothers (Chad) of Raleigh, William Small (Erin) of Wake Forest and Connie Small of Raleigh; brothers, Stewart Fogleman and James Fogleman (Frances); sister-in-law, Anne Fogleman; brother-in-law and wife, Rowland and Ann Williams; eight grandchildren, Anders Fogleman, Sarah Fogleman, Morgan Fogleman,  Garreth Irwin, Austin Berrios, Braxton Berrios, Taylor Small and Baylee Small.

Funeral services will be held on Easter Sunday at 3 p.m. at Berea Baptist Church.  Mr. Frank Shipp will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Anders Fogleman, Garreth Irwin, Austin Berrios, Braxton Berrios, Robbie Oakley and Jeffrey Massey. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Tom Inscoe Wholesale Meat.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
