HILLSBOROUGH Rev. M. E. Cox, 89, was called home on Thursday, July 07, 2016, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Bath, N.C. May 20, 1927 where he graduated from High School May 10, 1944. He was a World War II Veteran. His wife Helen Maxine preceded him in death in August 2012 and his daughter, Deborah Brown in July 2010.
He is survived by one daughter, Sheila Walsh of Durham; two grandchildren, Alec Brown II of Atlanta, Ga. and Shannon Reisen of Washington, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, T. T. Brown and Braxton Brown of Atlanta, Ga., and Skylar Reisen of Washington.
Rev. Cox spent most of his life in the Ministry of Original Free Will Baptist. He served in several capacities including 18 years as Moderator of the Piedmont Conference and in several churches as Pastor and was originally ordained in July 1956. He was the Author of the book “From the Plow to the Pulpit”.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8th from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home, following by a funeral service at 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 10 a.m. at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, N.C. Flowers are acceptable or memorial gifts may be made to Faith Christian Fellowship Church Building fund, 808 Miller Road, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
