Richard James Allen, 70, of Morrisville, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2025, and was reunited with his beloved wife, Madeline Wilson Allen (Maddie), at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Known to many as Rick, he was a devoted husband, loving son, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his kind, generous heart, steady presence, and the quiet strength of his character. Rick had a strong Christian faith that guided him throughout his life. It was through his church community, Bethesda Baptist, that he met Maddie, the woman who became his wife and closest companion. They shared 19 beautiful years of marriage before her passing, and their bond remains a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew them.
He graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and went on to build a long and respected career as a financial auditor with Central Carolina Bank in Durham, where he was known for his integrity, attention to detail and dedication. Outside of work, Rick found great joy in music. He loved playing guitar and often shared that passion with his family and those close to him. One of his most cherished memories was the opportunity to play with James Taylor's brother---a moment that reflected his warm spirit and love for life. Rick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Madeline Wilson Allen, and his father, William James Allen, Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Ann Allen, his brother, Rob Allen, and his sister, Gloria Minor, and husband, Tim, all of Creston, North Carolina. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, who he dearly loved and enjoyed watching them grow over the years.
A memorial service to celebrate Rick's life and faith will be held on Monday, April 14th, 2025 at 3:00 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel, 2ll S. Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27702.
Reverend John Butler will officiate the service.
Flowers are acceptable.
Ricks legacy lives on in the love he gave, the music he played, and the faith that carried him through life.
