Richard Norris Brown

Richard Norris Brown, 81, of Durham, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024. He was born May 23, 1943, in Durham, NC to the late Beryl (Buck) Howell and Ollie Sloan Brown.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Beryl, and Billy Brown. 

Mr. Brown retired from Liggett & Myers after working for 45 years as a machinist. Mr. Brown was a longtime member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Local Lodge 757 where he served as Treasurer for many years. He served as President for many years at the Town and Country Sportsman Club and a member for 50 years. Richard enjoyed trips to North Topsail Island beach where he loved searching for sharks’ teeth. Mr. Brown was an avid Duke Basketball fan and native of Durham. 

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Jackie S. Brown; son, Richard “Rick” N. Brown II of Durham; daughters, Lisa D. Brown of Durham, and Sherri Brown Perry (William) of Wilton, N.C.; grandchildren, Lucas Childress (Leah), Jaysen Perry (Jazmine), and Dalton Brown (Alexis); and his beloved fur babies Ginger and Presley. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends after the service. Officiating will be Pastor Angel Johnson-Register.
