RALEIGH-Mr. Richard Edward “RC” Coburn, 49, of Raleigh, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 30.
RC was born in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Charles Edward Coburn and Eleanor Rude Coburn. In addition to his parents, RC was predeceased by his daughter, Anne Margaret Coburn. He moved to North Carolina to attend Barton College where he played baseball and earned degrees in biology and chemistry. He later was employed with North Carolina Farm Bureau for more than 20 years as an Agency Manager where he grasped every opportunity to impact the lives of everyone he met. RC was a sports fan and loved baseball: playing it, coaching it, and most importantly, watching his boys play. He was an avid fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels. RC is survived by his wife, Jeanenne Arnau Coburn; sons, Richard Tyler Coburn, Andrew Wilson Coburn and Gabriel Richard Mumford; brother, Jon Reynolds (Denise); sisters, Mindy Coburn and Laurie Dearing (Buddy); nephews, Jonathan Reynolds, Jr., Tommy Reynolds, Ricks Dearing and Blake Arnau; nieces, Lauren Dearing, Kylee Arnau and Lexi Arnau; four-legged son Sully and many loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church, 504 W Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701. Pastor Tommy Larson will officiate. Interment will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens in Raleigh. Serving as pallbearers are RC’s agency team from Farm Bureau: Matt Stone, Brad Davis, Matt Ellington, Al Worthington, Turner Walston and Victor Williford, III.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 2 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd. Durham, NC 27703. Donations may be made in RC’s memory to the Duke Cancer Center or the Bull City Little League. Online condolences may be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
