Mr. Robert Boggan Walters, 96, of 1102 S. Mineral Springs Road, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015.
Mr. Walters was born in Anson County, North Carolina, to the late Wade Victor Walters and Sarah Josephine Dula Walters.
He attended Durham public schools, graduating from Durham High School in 1936.
In 1937 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving until the end of WWII. Mr. Walters worked at American Tobacco Company until serving again in the Navy during the Korean War. After returning home he was employed with Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company until retirement in 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Fletcher Walters and son, Robert Steven Walters.
Mr. Walters is preceded in death by brothers Harold Van Walters, William Boger Walters, Wade Victor Walters, Jr., George M. Walters, Ralph Walters, Roy Dula Walters, and a sister Sarah Josephine Dodson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17, at 2p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. The family will receive guests from 1 to 2pm, prior to the service at the funeral home.
