Robert Lee Carpenter

DURHAM Mr. Robert Lee Carpenter, 93, of Durham, died on Friday, March 11, 2016.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Chesterfield, S.C., the son of the late Walter Sandy Carpenter and Alice Butler Carpenter. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and retired after 29 years from Y&J Furniture. He was a great father and family man that took care of his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Driggers and son, Charles Edward Carpenter
He is survived by his sons, Mark Carpenter of Creedmoor, Richard Carpenter of Durham; three daughters, Peggy Rigsbee of Hillsborough, Marie Hamilton of Durham and Lorie Atkins of Rougemont; eight grandchildren, Kelly Ware, Chris Ware, David Hamilton, Mark Morris, Emily Atkins, Meghan Atkins, Brittany Carpenter and Hannah Carpenter; 9 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will he held on Tuesday, March 15th at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pastor Todd Moody will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mark Carpenter, Ricky Hall, Richard Carpenter, David Hamilton, Kelly Ware and Daniel Lutje. Flowers are acceptable.
