Roberta Ailene Moore

Roberta Ailene Moore, 44, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, from complications of pneumonia.
Roberta was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, November 9, 1972. She was the fifth of seven children born to Frank and Marion Moore. Roberta was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was an active member of St Anthony Hall Fraternity. She received her Master’s degree from the University of Arizona. Roberta was Research Administrator for Duke University for many years.
Throughout her life, she actively pursued social justice and fairness for all. Roberta was an intelligent and passionate free spirit who loved her family and friends and worked to make the world a better place. Her kindness to all, especially those who needed it most, knew no bounds. Roberta’s life beautifully represented selfless compassion for others. We have lost our wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Our world will never be the same, as she touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Russell Barnes; her parents, Frank and Marion Moore; sons, Keegan Scott Barnes and Noah Joseph Barnes; daughter, Cassidy Harper Barnes; brothers, Darrin Moore and wife, Laura, Brendan Moore and wife, Jessica; sisters, Veronica Guarino and husband, Guy, Lorraine Powers and husband, Cliff, Jennifer Moore and husband Brian, Pauline Williams and husband, Stuart; brother-in-law, Joseph Barnes; mother-in-law, Jacqueline Barnes, dear friends Joseph Smith and Elena Barnes and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 28, at the Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4907 Garrett Rd, Durham, NC 27707. The family will receive friends immediately after with a celebration of her life to follow.
