Steve Goodbar

Roger Stephen (Steve) Goodbar, 67, passed away Friday, May 5th, 2023 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. Steve was born in Durham on Christmas Eve, 1955 to Robert and Betty Goodbar. He leaves behind a legacy of a life lived his way, including many hours lifting a Bud Light with his buddies at the Tap Room, freely expressing his political opinions, collecting guns, and watching copious amounts of TV.

Steve lived a life acquiring the latest and greatest technology – tv’s, stereos, radios, big-boy toys…you name it! Later in life, Steve turned to conservative views and values and often went toe to toe in conversations with others…never backing down. Steve had an abrasive personality quite often and didn’t mind letting you know what he thought! When he inherited his father’s small gun collection in 2009, that lit an interest in collecting guns.

Steve married (and is survived by) his high school sweetheart, Terri, in 1986. Together they have one daughter, Lindsey Starke (Dean, of Charlotte, NC). Steve has one stepdaughter, Jennifer Moulton (John, of Apex, NC) and three step-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Morgan and Cooper Talley. He has one sister, Sherri Adams (Forrest, of Rougemont, NC), and one nephew, J.R. Elliott. Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

Steve was a somewhat complicated man, but he loved his family. As for his surviving family and friends, we'll raise a cold one in his memory and hope he's found a bar in the great beyond that serves his favorite beer. Rest in peace, Steve. We will miss you!

A Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Hudson Funeral Home with a Memorial Service following at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Officiating will be John Moulton.
