Ronald Alford Watkins

September 19, 1941 — April 26, 2012

TIMBERLAKE Mr. Ronald Alford Watkins, 70, of Timberlake, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 26, 2012, after a brave battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Stanley and Lacy Hamilton of Durham. He attended Durham City Schools and Kings College. He was employed with GTE South and Verizon for 34 years. He served 8 years 9 months in the U. S. Air Force and was a veteran of Vietnam. He retired from the North Carolina Army Reserve National Guard after 15 years of service. He was a Christian and member of Gorman Baptist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class.Surviving are his wife, Joyce Watkins of the home; one son, Jarratt Watkins; two daughters, Patricia Krippner (Scot) of Shreveport, La., and Anita Watkins of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Richelle Watkins; four grandchildren, Samantha, Zachary, Bailey and Logan Watkins of Williamsburg, Va.; one sister Wanda Markham of Cary.Funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Gorman Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. C. J. Bordeaux. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home.Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to the Gorman Baptist Church or charity of your choice.
