Ronald W. “Ronnie” Rigsbee

DURHAM Mr. Ronald (Ronnie) Wayne Rigsbee, 73, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Durham, the son of the late Lonnie Jones Rigsbee and Dorothy Matthews Rigsbee. He is also preceded in death by his son, Dr. Stephen Trent Rigsbee. Ronnie retired from the Durham Fire Department as Battalion Chief with 36 years of dedicated service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Phyllis Nichols Rigsbee; one son, Bryan Wayne Rigsbee (Scott) of Durham; two grandchildren, Morgan and Payton Rigsbee; brothers, Charles Rigsbee (Kay) and Mike Rigsbee (John); one sister, Susie Snipes (Victor) and many loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Hudson Funeral Chapel in Durham. Rev. Jack Moody will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Charles Rigsbee , Charles Rigsbee, Jr., Victor Snipes, Jr., Joseph McGinley, Ronnie Nichols and Mike Rigsbee. Honorary pallbearers will be active and retired firefighters of the Durham Fire Department.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Hudson Funeral Home
Many thanks and love for the respectful and caring treatment that all of the doctors, nurses and nurses aid gave to Ronnie and our family. Losing a loved one is difficult, but your constant compassion, understanding and support helped us in ways we cannot express.
