Ron Whitt, age 52, passed away on February 10, 2022.
Ron was born on July 28, 1969 in Durham, NC, son of the late Ronald Wayne, Sr. and Linda Lou Ennis Whitt. A family man, Ron loved his wife and children more than anything in the world. Ron was the kind of person that would always sacrifice himself for his family. You could often find Ron taking his family to lunch, throwing a ball with his dogs, or playing cards until late at night. He was a strong provider, a faithful servant, and most importantly, a dear friend.
In addition to his immediate family, Ron had so much love for others that became family to him throughout his life. Known as Bubba, Stumpy, or Popi to some, Ron always did his best to bring joy to any situation. He loved to have fun, and his belly laugh could fill any room. He was the best at sharing his love for life through jokes, jump scares, and joyful antics. Ron was truly the life of any party, and he had a special way of making anyone feel loved and important.
Ron never met a stranger and he served others with a generous heart. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone that asked or his last dollar for anyone in need. He was an active member of Bethesda Baptist Church. Known as the “Candy Man,” Ron would always have a pocket full of mints to hand out on Sunday mornings. Ron leaves behind a legacy of selflessness that will not be forgotten.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Christie Rhew Whitt; daughter, Kayla Robotti (Brooke Robotti); son, Kedan Whitt (Katherine Christopher); loving mother-in-law, Miriam Thompson (Ronnie); brother, Todd Whitt (Ginger) and their children, RJ, Haleigh, and Chloe; brother, Jeff Whitt (Mandy) and their children, Tyler, Karsyn, and Jordyn; as well as other loving family members, friends, and furry companions.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Bethesda Baptist Church with a memorial service following at 12:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Jonathan Barbee and Rev. Greg Allison.
