DURHAM Mr. Ronnie Love Harris, 73, of 5714 Lake Elton Road, died on Friday, June 06, 2014.
Mr. Harris retired after over 20 years from N.C. Mutual Drug Company. He attended Lowes Grove Baptist Church. He was passionate about music, playing the bass guitar, writing songs and singing with his band “Country Flame Band”. He wrote the song “Marching Jesus Up To Calvary”. He performed in clubs, senior centers and played at the American Legion in Roxboro. He was an avid “Tarheel” fan. He attended Person County High School. He was preceded in death by his father, James Harris and his brother, James G. Harris.
He is survived by his wife, B. J. Harris; his mother, Neville Tuck Day of Roxboro; son, Ronnie L. Harris, Jr. and wife, Renee of Greenville; stepson, John Marks and wife, Karen of Garner; two daughters, Tami Wall and husband, Andy of Oxford and Christi Harris of Roxboro; step-daughter, Sharyn Bennett and husband, Steve of Durham; brother, Tony Harris of Roxboro and 8 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Lowes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Marks, Kenny Lanier and Steve Bennett.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m., before the service at Hudson Funeral Home.
Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to the Duke HomeCare and Hospice for the Hock Family Pavilion, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704.
