Rose Hutchins Hundley Rhew

DURHAM– Rose H. Rhew, 92, life long resident of Durham died on Thursday, December 11, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Hutchins and Addie Belle Ellis. Rose was a born caregiver and devoted her life to selflessly caring for others – friends and family alike. She was the last surviving sibling of her large family, and never refused when special help and care were needed. Everyone who met her was immediately embraced in the aura of love that surrounded her. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Ivan Hundley and Wallace R. Rhew, son, Clarence Ray (“Pete”) Hundley and his wife Charlene, brother Isaac Lee Hutchins, sisters, Lillie Hutchins Williams, Ruth Hutchins Martin, Dora Mae Hutchins Rowland and Martha Hutchins Sims.

She is survived by her son, Carl Wallace Hundley and his wife Marcy, three grandchildren, Judy Hundley Urbania Linville, Catherine Hundley and Laura Hundley, three great-grandchildren, Mitchell Urbania, Andrew Urbania and Jessica Rose Urbania.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Grove Park Chapel, 605 Sherron Road. Pastor Dale Brooks will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dennis Moorhead, John Chapman, Jeffery Hutchins, Billy Rowland, Carl Hicks, Robert Linville, Bobby Crabtree and Tom Sewell. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Sims, Walter Sims, Jr. and Darrell H. Chapman.
