DURHAM- Mr. Royal Max Denton, 90, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019.Mr. Denton was born on July 26, 1928 to Charlie and Lurla Denton in Nash County, NC. Royal proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He worked at Liggett and Myers for 36 years and was a former employee of Howerton-Bryan Funeral Home. Mr. Denton was a charter member of Field Crest Baptist Church, now Harvest Glen Baptist Church, and served as a Deacon.Mr. Denton is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Lurla Denton; son, Dennis Max Denton; brothers, John Thurman Denton and Earl Denton; sister, Barbara Beckwith. Mr. Denton is survived by his wife, Kathryn W. Denton; daughter, Jane D. Rose (Crow) of Hillsborough, NC; sister, Mabel Brantley of Burlington, NC; sister-in-law, Betty Denton; and several nieces and nephews.A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Richard Hedges and Pastor Charles Wilson. Pallbearers will be Charles Denton, Dylan Denton, Mike Denton, Dustin Denton, Ken Wood, Phil Brown, and Richard Brown. Honorary pallbearer will be Thomas Fowler. Burial to follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
