Ruby Edwards Bailey

DURHAM Mrs. Ruby Edwards Bailey, 102, of Durham, died on Friday, February 12, 2016. Mrs. Bailey was born in Marietta, NC on April 12, 1913, the daughter of the late Eli Edwards and Ida Hilburn Edwards. She was a member of the First Assembly of God. She had six generations of family and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, who loved spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest joy was the many hours she spent being entertained by her beloved grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin J. Bailey, sons, Edwin Douglas Bailey and Marvin Dalton Bailey; daughter, Brenda Jean Johnson and three grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Robert R. Bailey, Sr. and wife, Ruby Jean of Bolivia; daughters, Jewel Parrish of Creedmoor, Ida Greenhill and husband, Dennis, Barbara Evans and husband, Paul and Carol Wright all of Durham, Gail Turner and husband, Michael of Creedmoor; two brothers, Tommy Edwards and Elvis Edwards; three sisters, Betty Kinlaw, Junita Eastman and Ethel Britt; 85 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on TUESDAY February 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Billy Toler and Rev. Denver Shelton. Burial will be in the Floyd Memorial Gardens in Fairmont, NC on Wednesday, February 17th at 11a.m. The family will also receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Floyd Mortuary in Lumberton.
