Ruby Estelle Murray

DURHAM Miss Ruby Estelle Murray, 85, of 1003 N. Junction Road, died on Saturday, December 7, 2013.
Miss Murray was born in Spring Hope, to the late George S. Murray and Mecie Mandy Strickland Murray. She retired from Burlington Industries. She was a member of Rocky Cross Holiness Church and Abundant Life Ministeries. She was an avid gardener, a great humanitarian to her family and friends and loved to entertain her family. She was preceded in death by her four sisters, Betty Murray, Evelyn Murray, Eula Pollock, Christine Massey and a brother, Nelson Murray
She is survived by her brother, George Murray of Rougemont; two sisters, Annie L. Byrd and Daphine Tingen both of Durham; seventeen nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Willie Teachey and Rev. Larry Massey. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Rocky Cross Holiness Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Brown, Jeff Murray, Roger Tingen, Phil Massey, Marty Massey, Mike Andrews, Wendell Fain and Brian Porter.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1003 N. Junction Road. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to the Duke HomeCare and Hospice; 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704.
