Ruby Catherine Overman

Ruby Overman left her earthly body on February 20^th 2024.  She was born on January 27, 1937, to Phillip Calvin Howell and Mary Dixon Howell in Kings Mountain N.C.  Ruby was loved by all who met her.  She had a loving heart and was a kind soul.

Ruby was a beautician for most of her life.  She also worked at Chapter 13 for some years. She loved her little dog, Scuby, who misses her so much. Ruby loved life and lived it to the fullest.  She loved living at the beach for many years and enjoyed going to auctions.  She had made many friends at the Sportsman’s Club where she enjoyed playing bingo.  She also enjoyed fishing and crafting.  

Ruby was of the Christian faith and attended Hillsborough Church of God.  She had a beautiful voice and loved singing in the choir or from the platform for many years throughout her life.

Along with her parents Ruby was preceded in death by her son Joel P Mitchell: one sister, Nell Laughridge: two brothers, Ott Howell (Pat); Fred Howell (Betty); a Grandson, Kevin Talley; a Great Granddaughter Brittany Duncan, and a Granddaughter,  Melody Overman.

Ruby is survived by her loving husband and companion of 28 years, Gene Overman; three daughters, Debbie Yeargan (Butch, deceased ); Donna Massay (David), Marlene Mitchell (Elton); 2 stepsons, John Overman (Elisha) and Wesley Overman (Melanie); Grandchildren, Carla Gaskins (Richard), Rebecca Baldwin (Mike), Daniel Talley (Christina), Heather Kelly, Jason Overman, Ashley Smith, Rebecca Thompson and Great Grandchildren, Aiden Baldwin, Hayes Baldwin, Butch Gaskins, Luna Talley, Keagan Talley, Trinity Kenyon, NeVaeh Kelly, Chelsey Painter and Jessica Evans. Also a loving sister-in-law, Pam Gates (Earl) to whom we are so grateful as she has been a rock and helper in these last few months.
