Sadie Parrish Turnage

DURHAM- Mrs. Sadie Mae Turnage, 97, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021.

Mrs. Turnage was born on September 2, 1923 to Roscoe and Betty Parrish in Selma, NC. She was a member of West Durham Pentecostal Holliness Church of Durham, NC. Sadie loved to sing and play music. She will be remembered as a great Christian woman; she was a pastor with her husband for 60 years. Sadie will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Mrs. Turnage was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Betty Parrish; her husband, Reverend J.T. Turnage; son, Greg Turnage; brothers, David, Joe, and Red Parrish; sisters, Lucille Cook and Eula Thompson; and grandson, Michael Palmertree.

Mrs. Turnage is survived by her sons, Dewayne Turnage (Linda), and Herschel Turnage (Valinda); daughter, Carolyn Henderson; grandchildren, Robin Turnage White, Kim Scoggins, Lisa Ellis, Brittany Wadford, and Misty Coffin; and 8 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Greg Long. Entombment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Flowers are acceptable, or memorial contributions can be made to West Durham Pentecostal Holliness Church at 901 Alabama Ave, Durham, NC 27705.

Those wishing to view and sign the register book can do so until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021 and until visitation on Friday, January 22, 2021.

Hudson Funeral Home will be observing social distancing for visitation as well as the funeral service, and asks everyone in attendance to wear a mask when entering the building.
