EMORYFRANKLINTON Mr. Sam Emory, 86, of 2542 Conyers Road, died at the Hock Family Pavilion on Friday, January 20, 2012.Mr. Emory was a native of Durham, the son of the late William Hubert Emory and Clara Crain Emory. He was a veteran of U. S. Navy serving during World War II. He retired after 38 years as a truck driver for Roadway Express. Mr. Emory was a member of Angier Avenue Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post 7. He was a coin and knives collector and loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his wife, France Crawford Emory.He is survived by two sons, Sam Anthony Emory, of Boydton, Va. and Ronnie Ferrell Emory of Franklinton; one daughter, Pamela Emory Dickerson of Franklinton; two sisters, Clara Davis and Jean Williams both of Durham; 9 grandchildren, Keely Kelly, Shelly Cuthbertson, Chelsea Dickerson, Travis, Brandon and Ashley Emory, Ronnie Emory, Jr., Jonathan Emory, Jenna Emory and 7 great-grandchildren.A Chapel Memorial service will be held on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Robert Jones will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m., prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2542 Conyers Road in Franklinton.
